Job Summary:

The Lead Server at Coopershill is responsible for providing excellent customer service while overseeing and supporting the serving staff. This role involves ensuring smooth service flow, assisting with training and mentoring servers, and stepping in to resolve any service-related issues. The Lead Server is a key player in creating a positive dining experience for guests, while also contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the front-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to all guests, ensuring they have an enjoyable dining experience. Take orders, make menu recommendations, serve food and beverages, and attend to guest needs in a timely manner.
  • Team Leadership: Assist the FOH Manager in overseeing and supporting the server team. Lead by example, ensuring all servers provide high-quality service and follow Coopershill standards.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in training new servers, teaching them proper service procedures, menu knowledge, and customer service techniques. Serve as a mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Service Coordination: Ensure smooth service flow by communicating effectively with the kitchen, bar, and FOH teams. Monitor table service and step in to assist servers during busy times or resolve issues as they arise.
  • Handling Complaints: Address guest complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive resolution and guest satisfaction. Escalate issues to the FOH Manager when necessary.
  • Order Accuracy: Ensure all orders are accurately communicated to the kitchen and bar. Double-check orders before serving to ensure they meet guest expectations and Coopershill quality standards.
  • Table Management: Assist in managing table assignments and ensuring efficient turnover of tables during peak hours. Help organize server sections and adjust as necessary to maintain smooth operations.
  • Menu Knowledge: Maintain a thorough knowledge of the food and drink menu, including daily specials and any dietary or allergy considerations. Be able to answer guest questions and make informed recommendations.
  • Opening & Closing Duties: Assist in opening and closing duties, ensuring that the dining area is properly set up and cleaned. Ensure that servers complete their side work and that the FOH is ready for the next shift.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all food handling and service procedures adhere to health and safety regulations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment for the staff and guests.
Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of experience as a server in a casual dining or pub setting.
    • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Strong leadership abilities and the ability to manage and support a team.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
    • Ability to lift and carry trays and other items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Food handler’s certification preferred.
  • Personality: Outgoing, friendly, and able to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. A team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Working Conditions:

The Lead Server will work in a fast-paced environment, often during evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires standing and walking for long periods and handling the physical demands of serving and supporting the team.
Compensation: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour
